These are stupid rare. RWD (and NOT a Prerunner) with the 3.4L V6, baby! And automatic, because I’m a dirty, lazy turncoat.

Meaningless trivia: the “LX” name was used for the top-trim level on the Taco from 1995.5 through 1997. The name replaced “SR5" that had been used by Toyota for pickups (and other models) since the 70's for only the Tacoma (an upper trim 4Runner, as an example, was still an SR5 during this period), perhaps to even further differentiate it from previous iterations of the Pikcup/Hilux in the states. For whatever reason — marketing, I assume — Toyota ditched the “LX” name on the Tacomas after only a few years and brought back the “SR5.”

Anyway, I can’t afford this so I’ll go back to being sad now.

Fun Fact: The early 3.4's were also rampant(well, it was common) with the 3.0's head gasket issues.

If this wasn’t across the country, then I would have to heavily consider buying it. It has a towing capacity that could easily allow me to trailer the Miata to and from events!

People still ask 8k for a 20 year old truck.

Why do the photos look like they were taken in the 90s?

Maybe some artsy filter on an iPhone for that Vintage Touch (patent pending)

my dad test drove one of those in green - but it was scratched up and had fairly high mileage so he ended up with his Tundra... I looked a 4cyl one of those - but head room is a little tight...

Pickup trucks in general hold their value insanely well. Tacos are even better, driving a Taco is practically like driving around cash money.

My Sierra crew cab is 12 years old, has 130 k miles on it, a bit of rust, and I could still sell it for easily 40% of what I paid for it brand new. Which is insane, quite frankly.

I will never understand taco values. It’s not like they’re rare, but they don’t deprecate.

It’s weird how so many clean old vehicles are in WA. People up north are always buying cars from the south. We like to buy cars from CA, but I’m starting to think the PNW is a hidden secret. You would think so much rain and moisture wouldn’t be good for a vehicle, but the lack of sun must be why the paint still looks good decades later. In GA if you found one that clean, it would of been cared for by some enthusiast and waxed religously, or it was some grandpa’s truck that was garaged since new and rarely driven. 99% are faded and/or have had hard lives as work trucks.

Maybe you can get it next time it comes around, when you have a nice big garage to put it in.

Based on my experience with a 3.4 in a 4x4 Tacoma. That had to be one quick little truck

Shhh don’t tell everyone.

It rains 35% more in Atlanta than it does in Seattle on average, and it’s never particularly humid here...there’s not all that much moisture to worry about as long as your roof doesn’t leak. The summer is reliably dry but fairly short, so the paint doesn’t bake like it does in the Southwest. And other than a few suburban strip malls I don’t know of anywhere west of the Cascades that salts the roads in winter.

Yeah, they are way overvalued for what they are. They have a reputation for being unkillable, but modern trucks are all so good if you take care of them. It’s completely illogical.

Are you talking 35% more volume of water, or days of precipitation? One of my friends lives in Camas, WA, and when I talk to him it’s raining 9 out of 10 times. I know it drizzles a lot there, and in Atlanta we get thunderstorms that can drop inches of rain in an hour. So annual rainfall in inches I might believe.

Volume of rainfall. My point was just that there’s less actual moisture, and thus less issues for car preservation, than you might think. Most of the many, many rainy days are just a few hours of drizzle in an otherwise overcast day.  You might not want to live in that climate, but it’s pretty easy on cars. East of the Cascades, the winters are much colder, and west of the Olympics it rains much more, so you see more issues.
